How I came to be a healer
In Jr. High School my best friend and I were doing "field research" for a report on Psychic Phenomena. We went to a metaphysical bookstore
and the shop keeper read our palms. She said I had hands of a healer. Back then, a nurse was
the only kind of healer that came to mind and I quickly discarded that notion because I was terrified of needles.
It turns out that healing and intuitive arts have become my passion and the palm reading, it provided a road-sign. I was living in New England after graduating
with an MFA in the 1980's when I developed a curiosity about natural foods, healing, and personal growth. It wasn't entirely voluntary. It was
precipitated by a wake up call in the form of a minor back injury, and feeling a bit lost about my life direction. I was still involved in making jewelry and art,
but it was not as fulfilling as it had once been now that it was my career. My search led to five years of intensive
learning and discovery in personal growth, intuitive arts, spiritual growth, and healing arts. Within a few years I rented a beautiful space on the
top floor of The Golden Sheaf natural food store and offered energy healing and Voice Dialogue sessions until moving back to Seattle.
After returning home, I spent the next decade in the business realm, developing an innovative natural food program for a chain of grocery stores
that became a leader in introducing organic and natural products to the mainstream. In the midst of this, I found my way back into the healing arts and to shamanism, or, it found me. After the death of my mom in 1996,
my MD (no kidding, my doctor) recommended I get a Soul Retrieval (a traditional shamanic healing method) because my heart was constantly
racing and nothing seemed to be medically wrong. I did, and it worked. My heart rate returned to normal within a week of the treatment.
It took my emotional heart a long time to recover from the loss, and it was the catalyst that demanded my attention to what I came to recognize
as my calling.
After taking classes in shamanism in 1980's and 1990's I embarked on a journey of extensive training
in shamanism and shamanic healing in 1998. I was introduced to Michael Harner where I participated in
The Foundation for Shamanic Studies Two-Week Intensive co-taught with Sandra Ingerman, and the Three-Year Training in Advanced Shamanism
and Shamanic Healing. I continued studying with Sandra taking Medicine for the Earth, and Healing with Spiritual Light workshops, and her Two-Year Teacher
Training. Other workshops and trainings that have come to inform my practice include those with Rochelle Wallace, Tom Cowan, Claude Poncelet,
The Four Winds Society, Vicky Noble, and Carolyn Conger. I also learned a great deal from
Betsy Bergstrom who taught depossession with Michael Harner in our 3 year training, and was a mentor during these early years.
In 2004 I expanded my tool box and received Certification as a Transpersonal Hypnotherapist with Jack Elias, author of Finding True Magic.
Also in 2004 I participated in my first Family Constellations workshop with Brigitte Sztab. I was so moved by it that I've been engaged in trainings,
workshops, and facilitation training since. I could see the morphogenic field come alive, and how when I do what I do with shamanic healing and journeying, things change.
Facitators that I have trained or participated in workshops with include: Brigitte Sztab, the late Dietrich Weth, Daan van Kampenhout, Albrecht Mahr,Ursula Franke,
Francesca Mason Boring, Mark Wolynn, Dietrich Klinghardt, Johannes Schmidt, Elmar Dornberger, and a one-year program with Mark Johnson.
Almost everyone who finds their way to me has experienced trauma, I've experienced trauma. Although the modalities I practice are helpful in healing trauma,
I wanted to know why, and how, and more about the anatomy of it. In 2009 I had an incredible opportunity to participate in one year training
with Johannes Schmidt. Johannes is a therapist and constellational process facilitator with
a focus in trauma healing, especially developmental trauma and embryology, based in Germany. The Certification I receive is in
Trauma Resolution, Body-Oriented Trauma Healing 4 modules, 4 days each. As intensive as it was, I consider it an introduction to this kind of work.
The healing and intuitive work I offer integrates insights distilled from life lessons, inspiration and wisdom from helping spirits and nature, clairvoyance, clairsentience, and in-depth training in:
Shamanic Healing: engaging the spirit realm for healing and information, including soul retrieval, soul remembering, extraction, spirit releasement,
and support for the process of death and dying.
Energy Healing: also known as Reiki or hands-on healing. Channeling universal life force energy through the hands for physical and emotional
balancing, restoration and healing.
Hypnosis/NLP: accessing the vast memory held in our subconscious and engaging deeper learning states. Includes Past Life Regression.
Systemic Constellations: (Family Constellations) accessing the dynamic web of interconnectedness to which we
belong to reveal and find resolution for hidden dynamics and entanglements with family, ancestors, or any system to which we belong.
It is only through the process of my own healing and life challenges that I was introduced to, if not initiated into, these truly remarkable methods.
They have been transformational for me in many ways, and I continue to be in awe of the results I witness with my clients.
